This is very feminist/hippie/cliche of me to say but… I just now truly realized how evil women’s beauty magazines are. You’re just overwhelmed with feelings of cheapness, shallowness, superficiality, self-consciousness, and a desire for materialism that you know is going to be short-lived but still feel anyways. You feel all this when you read through them no matter how confident you were about yourself before. And you also get the feeling that you wouldn’t really get along with any of the “editors” of the features because your lives are so displaced from each others’. These commonplace magazines encompass everything I hate about the mainstream.
As for the legitimate arts/fashion magazines… Carry on.
